The Curious Importance of Staying Still
Stillness and solidarity are two of the hardest things for me to do. I find that when I try to be still and quiet, something always gets in the way or tries to move me out of silence. Or in most cases, I forget the things I am supposed to remember and remember the things that I was supposed to forget. The places when we are alone are the favorite spots for our Father to say the biggest things. I find this to be most true when I drive down the road and remember to turn the radio off. Sometimes, when I am really in a good alone place, God tickles me to death with things that I have been worrying with, He kinda slaps my face and asks me why I’m trippin.
I challenge you to go off and do something (or nothing) by yourself for a time. Maybe fifteen minutes or less. If there is something bugging you ask God what He feels about it (maybe in the first 3 minutes) then just wait and be quiet. You should hear this voice giving you logical advice (or so is the case with myself. Maybe you will see angels or Jesus Christ himself will come and have coffee with you) and thats it. Simple. Then why is it so hard, and always gets lost in the hectic day? That’s the enemy. Yep, I said it. Satan or whatever will do and put anything into your life to hinder your thoughts and your day to day activities, if you will let him. The thing is don’t. Simple. Thats why knowing God gives you this super power of knowing who you are talking to. If the voice inside says you are stupid, then thats not God. This is really elementary. But always seems to be forgotten. In my case anyway.
I know there are people out there that try and take matters always into their own hands, always relying on seen things to get results. Seen things being natural means. But there were times when if you heard God, you’d be shaking in your boots and getting down to business no matter what the cost. Now with modern technology, the supernatural is out. You hear a voice, there’s medicine for that. You need to have A and B before C, not C then A and forget about B. You hear me? That is another reason that staying still and listening is more important than doing, I mean we owe it to ourselves to be quiet for a damn minute in this crazy world. God is there, if you are ready to hear and be with Him. You just have to give Him some time, and He is begging you for a coffee date.
So the next time you are feeling like you aren’t running fast enough to get to the finish line, slow down and realize that it’s not of God and ask Him what He thinks. Be still and know that He IS.
